I just read an interesting article on Reuters about virtual economies in electronic game environments like Second Life and World of Warcraft. The U.S. Treasury Department and The Joint Economic Committee of the U.S. Congress are taking notice of the commerce transactions and the accrual of wealth that roughly translates to millions of real dollars every day. It’s only a matter of time before Uncle Linden comes knocking on your door with an audit notice.

My Thoughts Exactly

I’ve been reading several books recently, including Black Bodies and Quantum Cats and Programming the Universe, in an attempt to get my head wrapped around some of the physics topics that I either slept through or dropped out of in college. I’ve seen Brian Greene’s “The Elegent Universe” Nova special about String Theory, and I’ve listened to debates on the topic on some of my favorite podcasts. So, I think I’m starting to get a pretty good lay-persons perspective on many of the classical and theoretical physics disciplines like String Theory. Nevertheless, I think Randall Munroe has the best String Theory summary to date.
